FAQs
Can I use purchased images in my whiteboard animation/explainer videos?
Yes.
Can I sell the videos that I create from your purchased images?
Yes.
Can I publish my videos online and in social media?
Yes.
Can I resell the image files that I purchase?
No. This is very important. Copyright to all images remains the property of Piers Baker even after you have purchased them. Image files may not be resold, sub-licensed, shared or loaned.
NB: Sharing my images does not include the rights to use them.
Can I use images that I have purchased from a third party?
No. Images that have been obtained from a third party are not licensed. Third parties do not have rights to sell or share my images. Being in possession of my image files does not automatically mean you have rights to use them. Videos that use unlicensed images are subject to copyright takedown notices.
Can I purchase a licence agreement for my unlicensed images?
Yes. An image licence can be purchased for £400. Click here for details.
Can I edit, combine, colour or otherwise manipulate the original svg image files?
Yes. All derivatives of my images remain my copyright.
Can I use the images in print?
No. For copyright reasons images may not be used in any printed/static/non-animated material.
Can I use the images on my website or social media?
Images may be used on your website/social media if they support your whiteboard animation work but NOT if the website/social media page is not directly connected to your whiteboard animation work. If in doubt please email us.
Can I pay in instalments?
Nice try. No.
Can I copy your images?
No. Copying images rather than purchasing them is copyright theft. Painting out the watermark or screen grabbing thumbnails and using those images is also theft. Videos using copied images are subject to copyright takedown notices.
Can I redraw your images?
No. People wrongly think that redrawing my work gets around copyright laws. It doesn’t. Redrawing my images is a copyright violation. Videos using redrawn images are subject to copyright takedown notices.
Can I use your images as a basis for my own artwork?
No. Again, people wrongly think that re-creating my work in their own style gets around copyright. It doesn’t.
The same applies to Ai. Using my work to train Ai is copyright infringement. Ai generated images in my style are an infringement of my copyright.
The following are all copyright violations even though they aren’t exact copies…
What is copyright?
Copyright is a legal right, giving the owner control over their work and how it is used. It gives creators protection against the use of their work without permission. Owners of copyright can use, sell or licence a work to a third party. Copyright protects the work created by the author. Copyright is one of the main types of intellectual property. Intellectual property gives a person ownership over the things they create, the same way as something physical can be owned.
What is copyright infringement?
Copyright infringement occurs when a person carries out any of the following on a copyright-protected work without the consent or authorisation of the copyright owner:
Copying it
Redrawing/Recreating it
Issuing copies of it to others
Renting or lending it to others
Selling it to others
